What do you do when you’re feeling a little under the weather?

Do some shots, of course!

No, not that kind of shots. (I can see your eyes lighting up from here!)

Wellness shots!

I like the style of “Lexie’s Kitchen” – where this recipe originally came from. Whether or not these “shots” cure the flu, they are wholesome, fun and alcohol free! It’s a juice bar classic – with all-healthy ingredients and a little extra zing designed to “blast” whatever gremlins need blasting.

Ingredients include celery, apple, lemon, ginger and cayenne pepper.

Ginger and lemon are well-known ingredients in all sorts of home-made cold cure-type remedies. Cayenne also finds its way into a number of home remedies, such as the (in)famous “master tonic” – which we have listed on our page of the The Top 10 Most Amazing Herbal / Natural Remedies For Colds And Flu.

Cayenne pepper has recently found its way onto the list of highly regarded herbal remedies owing to some very positive scientific studies in the last few years which have indicated a whole host of health benefits. Its active ingredient, capsaicin (which also provides the heat!), is considered by herbalists to be beneficial to stomach ulcers, to the cardiovascular system & blood, (even being said to be helpful in cases of heart attack), and has even been found to have anti-prostate cancer properties in lab tests. Cayenne also contains other beneficial phytochemicals.

OK, I am so ready for one of these. Here’s the link to the full original recipe, together with more pics and fun: Lexie’s Wellness Juice Shot (archive link)

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises…

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
