A new review has revealed the potential of Ginger as a supplement or an ingredient for protection against obesity.

Published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, the review gathered data from sixty studies that were performed on cell cultures, lab animals, and humans. These studies confirmed the beneficial effects of ginger and its major constituents against obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. [1]

The authors from China Agricultural University highlight the different aspects of metabolic syndrome, which they describe as a growing health problem that has reached pandemic proportions. Metabolic syndrome is a clinical condition that affects 25% of adults in the USA. [2] It covers multiple cardiovascular disease risk factors including obesity, high blood pressure, and abnormal glucose metabolism.

The study mentions the several mechanisms for this action of ginger. It underlines the role of the spice in fat burning, carbohydrate digestion, and insulin secretion. Ginger’s other properties such as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant are also discussed. [3]

The previous studies explored by the Chinese authors present evidence on the value of ginger in reducing body weight and systemic inflammation, lowering cholesterol and blood sugar, and protecting against the negative effects of the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. The authors also refer to the relief offered by ginger for people experiencing nausea, without any adverse side effects. [4]

Preliminary studies have indicated ginger’s assistance in keeping weight under control. In 2013, a study confirmed the ability of ginger to reduce body weight and revealed how the spice fared against orlistat, a drug sometimes prescribed for weight loss. [5]

Obesity-associated comorbidities are linked with increased oxidative stress. A 2014 study showed the effectiveness of ginger supplementation in protecting against oxidative stress – an intervention that is beneficial for obese people. [6]

Another research affirmed the pharmacological effect of cinnamon and ginger for treating patients suffering from obesity and diabetes. The study used the obese diabetic rat model and found out that the extracts had causal role in reducing body weight and body fat mass, decreasing blood glucose, and increasing serum levels. [7]

Ginger also induces weight loss by affecting your metabolic rate, according to a 2012 study published in the journal Metabolism. The study used ginger tea to assess if the beverage had a significant effect on the feeling of satiety after eating. The researchers found that ginger has the potential to improve weight loss by suppressing appetite.

😳 What Tinnitus Does To Your Brain Cells (And How To Stop It)

After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...
