In the last few years, green tea has experienced a significant increase in popularity because of its health benefits to the human body. So what are the benefits of green tea?

Studies have indicated that green tea is good for the skin. It is reported to help in increasing the skin’s elasticity as well as in rejuvenating dull and old skin cells. Furthermore, it helps in eliminating various signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, green tea is also known for its calming effects that benefit people suffering from rosacea, dandruff, psoriasis and other skin infections. It even helps in eliminating acne because of its antibacterial properties, and its ability to regulate the body’s hormonal activities.

One study revealed that regular consumption of green tea is good for the heart. Green tea contains highly potent compounds that help in improving artery function, as well as in increasing the level of good cholesterol while preventing the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein which is best known as the bad cholesterol. This in turn results to a reduced risk for cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis. An excellent aid to weight loss, green tea is also useful in preventing stroke and diabetes as well as in staving off dementia.

Above it all, green tea is a powerhouse of antioxidants. Antioxidants are thought to play a very vital role in combating the effects of damaging free radicals. When left uncontrolled, free radicals trigger the development of some degenerative diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and more importantly, it is thought that they may play a role in different types of cancer like esophageal, colon, lung, breast, bladder and skin cancers. Studies show that green tea’s potent substances inhibit the growth of and kill cells that grow inappropriately.

This is an ultra-simple recipe that calls for a special variety of tea, however there’s nothing to stop you using whatever green tea you wish!
