What we take in and consume now can be considered as an investment in our future. We just discovered an amazing “super detox” juice recipe that is simply made of fruits and vegetables that are widely available today. Each of these ingredients is considered valuable in helping cleanse the body.

Here is a brief discussion of the ingredients and their value:

Dandelion

A good source of calcium, iron and Vitamins A and C, dandelion is a diuretic and is also noted for its detoxifying effects. This ornamental flowering plant is thought to be effective remedy for liver disorders, diabetes, urinary disorders, acne, anemia, gall bladder disorders, high blood pressure, scurvy, jaundice, cancer, eczema, ringworm, skin itches and dyspepsia.

Cilantro

One of the most fascinating things about cilantro is that several studies have indicated that it removes mercury and possibly other heavy metals from the human body! Known in the UK and France as coriander, cilantro is known for its ability to stabilize blood sugar level, lower bad cholesterol and improve the level of good cholesterol in the body. An excellent source of magnesium, phytonutrients, fiber and iron, cilantro is considered valuable for nausea, gas, urinary infections, hormonal mood swings and menstrual cramping.

Celery

Coming from the family of fennel and parsley, celery is proven to be a wonderful reservoir of health nutrients like magnesium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, folic acid, essential amino acids and Vitamins C, B6, B2 and B1. Celery is known for its profound effects on lowering the level of cholesterol and blood sugar. This vegetable aids in weight loss, dissolves urinary stones, improve kidney and nervous system functions, and prevent stomach and colon cancers.

Cucumber

Cucumber is recognized for its replenishing and rejuvenating effects to the skin and hair. Research has found that cucumber is also beneficial in controlling blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar level as well as in treating gout, arthritis pain and possibly different types of cancer including prostate, uterine, ovarian, and breast cancer.

Lemon

Lemons are a great source of Vitamin C. This fruit also contains substances like bioflavonoids, citric acid, magnesium, calcium, limonene and pectin that may help the body fight against infections and diseases. Apart from being considered an aid to weight loss, lemon also helps in improving digestive and liver function. Lemon water is commonly used in its own right as a cleansing drink and is considered alkalinizing to the body.

Ginger

This widely cultivated spice is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It makes an excellent home remedy for a wide range of health illnesses which include asthma, headaches, persistent cough, sore throat, muscle strain, nausea and flatulence. Ginger is also known for its antispasmodic, antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic, hypotensive, expectorant and analgesic properties.
