Allopathic
Allopathic is a term that has been used, particularly by homeopaths, to describe conventional western medicinal practice.
The term was introduced in 1810 by homeopath Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843). The word allopathy means "other than the disease" and the term was used perjoratively in the 19th century by homeopaths, who viewed conventional medicinal practitioners as treating "mere symptoms" rather than causes of disease. In homeopathy, substances that cause similar effects on healthy persons as the symptoms of a disease (homeo - meaning similar), are often used in minute, ultra-diluted quantities to treat patients. [1]
The basic principle of homeopathy was introduced by Hahnemann in 1796; known as the "law of similars", it can be summed up by the phrase "let like be cured by like." Homeopathy has not been accepted by orthodox science as proven.
