Vegetable oil is one of those foodstuffs that people take for granted: We’ve been told that it is healthy – and most people don’t look any further into it. However, when you start to investigate what it is, how it is made and whether it is actually beneficial, a whole new picture begins to emerge.
Most people do not realize that vegetable oil is a relatively recent invention. Unlike olive oil or coconut oil, which can be extracted by simple cold pressing, vegetable oil may require very considerable processing – often using high temperatures and chemical processes. One of the principal objectives of food product manufacturers is to create the most “shelf stable” and most visually appealing possible product.
When you really understand the staggering extent to which vegetable oils such as canola are processed, it occurs to you that this has more in common with chemistry than it does with food. And it was a surprise to me to learn that the average consumption of vegetable oils is 70 lbs per person, per year.
Where did this whole idea come from that food can be manufactured, as opposed to grown naturally? Scientists will be the first to tell you about evolution, yet they ignore the fact that our bodies have evolved to eat natural food for hundreds of thousands of years. In other words, we are evolutionarily designed to eat what nature provides, in all its inimitable complexity. You can’t create natural foods in a factory, no matter what pictures of bunnies and sunsets are printed on the packaging.
There’s just no way that you can hand me a foodstuff or medicine that has been invented in the last 20 years and tell me that it is safe.
Because it cannot possibly have been tested on an entire human lifespan – therefore we cannot possibly know its real effects.
This ultra-simple point of logic is a thorn in the side of modern food manufacturers, who will do anything they can to promote the idea that their food is safe.
What’s really interesting is that there was a huge campaign against saturated fats in the 80’s and 90’s – and these views are now being overturned; leading one to the opinion that the whole push for these unnatural foods may have been driven by big-business product marketing.
Call me old school – but my approach is simply not to chance it. I’ll eat as naturally as I possibly can, while I still have the option. I know that the marketing and consumption of these foods is driven by big finance, whose motive is profit – which often has a mysterious way of blurring the focus around whether something is actually wholesome or not. Looking for a certain result, they will push their agenda aggressively. You know it’s true – the big question is, whether you are prepared to be a guinea-pig for what is essentially a total experiment. On you.
I’m of the view that the industrialization of food may well prove to be the chief reason for the rise in sickness in modern times. The trouble being, by the time the cat is out of the bag, a generation will have paid the price. And you either choose consciously what to put in your body, or you have those decisions made for you by men in a boardroom somewhere whose primary goal is getting rich.

π³ Tinnitus And Brain Health?
After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.
As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...

The #1 Muscle That Eliminates Joint And Back Pain, Anxiety And Looking Fat
By Mike Westerdal CPT
Can you guess which muscle in your body is the #1 muscle that eliminates joint and back pain, anxiety and looking fat?
This is especially important if you spend a significant amount of time sitting every day (I do, and this really affects me in a big way!)
Working this "hidden survival muscle" that most people are simply not training because no-one ever taught them how will boost your body shape, energy levels, immune system, sexual function, strength and athletic performance when unlocked.
If this "hidden" most powerful primal muscle is healthy, we are healthy.
Is it...
a) Abs
b) Chest
c) Glutes
d) Hip Flexors

Vegetable oil is really bad, but the article above just relates a “feeling” of being bad because it is new. Look into the GMO’s that go into vegetable oil and the problem associated with long chain fatty acids causing free radical damage. Read the Coconut Oil Miracle and any book on corn production or GMO’s like Food Revolution. Scary stuff.
Canola oil is made from rape plant. That’s the same plant that agent orange comes from. It is NOT a healthy choice at all. I will stick with Olive oil and Coconut oils.
Organic coconut and red palm oil for cooking and olive oil only at room temperatures.
Your point is absolutely valid and I keep saying the same thing to my friends and neighbors. I for one use sesame oil the way south Indians do and use olive and coconut oil for some special dishes. Works fine so far…given my oil consumption is minimal. But I still use vegetable oil for the rare deep frying like papads (a type of fried chips) which is once a week. Now I guess I shall not do that too and reserve sesame oil or olive for it. Appreciate your post!
I like this webpage but i think this article lacks serius sources.
Such data is valuable. The only regret is it is coming too late for most of us. However, necessary changes are being made.
I absolutely love your page. Thanks for the info keep up the fantastic work, ignore any negative comments. You definitely know what you’re talking about π
What about almond oil? Can that be used for cooking?
any oil brought to a high temp is bad for you. PERIOD. END OF STORY.
I use Rapeseed oil is this not safe as well? i also use coconut oil at times.
Pecan oil, hemp oil, olive oil, coconut oil. all cold-pressed and unrefined is best. flaxseed oil.
I like
Good article and I noticed people said it lacked serious reference or valid proof. It does sound like a whim that this is bad it does not sound good. People will see that and right this article off simply because it is not validated by science. People need to learn some common sense. It is time for people to wake up and just realise with out molecular differentiation structure, that certain things in life are bad for us and certain things in life are good. I am one of the ones who is reaping the rewards of brain disease ramifications due to diet. I have nothing else to pin point it’s rise. Hell I was seven when the damn disease begun.
How do you cook with any oils and not use higher heat? I don’t follow that. I’m thinking chicken.
thank you so much, i really appreciate the info cos u care for our health. we are blessed
!
What would be recommend to use in a cake or muffin mix
If vegetable oil are not good for health means then what else we can use for cooking? Can you please suggest us?
Hi I use rice bran oil for all my cooking n frying. Need feedback whether it is good for us or not ??
Ontario
On February 17, 2011, the Toronto Star revealed that the same chemicals used to strip the jungles of Vietnam were also employed to clear extensive plots of Crown land in Northern Ontario.[121] The same day, in response to the Toronto Star article, the Ontario provincial government launched a probe into the use of Agent Orange.[122]
On February 18, 2011, Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources widened the probe of Agent Orange spraying to include all areas of the province where government managed forests on Crown land.[123]
The Toronto Star reported that, “records from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s show forestry workers, often students and junior rangers, spent weeks at a time as human markers holding red, helium-filled balloons on fishing lines while low-flying planes sprayed toxic herbicides including an infamous chemical mixture known as Agent Orange on the brush and the boys below.”[121]
British Columbia
Records show tens of thousands of gallons of the toxic mixture were applied to clear brush near highways and along power lines in the late 1960s and early 1970s β and in some cases the substance was sprayed next to homes. In B.C., the mix of 2-4-D and 2-4-5-T was called “Type B Weed and Brush Killer” in government invoices. Sometimes, the engineers ordered 2-4-5-T by itself, and dubbed it “Type C Weed and Brush Killer.”
In total, about 26,000 gallons of Type B Weed and Brush Killer were ordered between 1965 and 1972. About 10,000 gallons of Type C Weed and Brush Killer were ordered in the same time period. The barrels were shipped to all four of the regions of B.C. as designated by the Ministry of Highways: Kamloops, Nelson, Prince George and Vancouver.
In 1976, documents from BC Hydro show 2-4-5-T and 2-4-D was sprayed along Hydro lines Vernon-Monashee and Nicola-Brenda circuits. The documents also say “brushkiller” was sprayed in Pemberton and Daisy Lake.[124]

Coconut oil does not produce carcinogens when heated, so is safe for cooking. Olive oil, rapeseed oil (canola), sunflower oil, etc should not be heated. Coconut oil is also a very good hair conditioner and skin emollient as its molecular structure is close to that of sebum, and it can also be used as a body-friendly lubricant.
We are trying to use olive oil and lard we render ourselves, from pigs that are raised for us, fed naturally.
If Vegetable oil requires so much processing (heating) why is it cheaper than Olive oil or other cold pressed oils?
If people would balance their lives with diet AND exercise this would be a non-issue. Far too many folks think that eating right is the answer. You can’t out run your spoon but you can eat and drink what you want with moderation and exercise.
Wow, all of you must be made out of money. I understand the need natural health foods, but in today’s economy that’s a challenge. I can barely afford to eat unhealthy. If I bought natural organic or healthy foods I’d probably be homeless or malnourished. Sure I love the taste of sesame oil but with the cost and the size of the bottle it comes in, I just can’t swing that.
the best oil for cooking is sesame oil can tollerate 250 f heat and can lower the cholestrol after 3 months i am traditional medecine doctors and i always recommened sesame oil to my patients.
@ GH… agent orange is a synthetic mixture of 2 weed killers..2,4,5-T and 2,4-D…. stop the fear mongering…Rapeseed oil does has erucic acid in it which at elevated level 54% can cause cardiac muscle damage and glucosinolates, but he government has limited the amount to 2% by weight..
Rice Bran Oil is one of the best oils for deep frying..it withstands high heat and doesn’t smoke….I only use rice bran for deep frying and olive oil for all other cooking.
if you think this article is lacking scientific basis do a simple Google search on how these oils are processed …. no one is saying absolutely never consume this, but everyone should make an informed decision on this like anything else. a valid point had been made about the cost of eating healthy, its sad that a bottle of soda can cost half as much as the same size bottle of water — make the best choice for you that you can afford but do it in an informed way! I make every effort to live as naturally as possible but in today’s environment its almost impossible to live chemical free – sometimes you just have to choose the better of 2 evils!
Vegetable oil, good or bad, has been around longer than 20 years. I remember when it first came out; I was still living at home with my parents and I am now 67 years old. I left home when I was 18, so you can do the math.
I use only olive oil, coconut oil, and occasionally mustard oil for cooking.
Butter, coconut oil and lard are the best cooking!
