We’ve featured a few posts about cleaners using simple, natural and readily available ingredients – and here’s another for your list: Salt.
What’s perhaps most astonishing is the extent to which people have forgotten about simple ways of doing things which are actually very effective.
Salt has gotten some bad press in recent years over the discovery that eating too much of it can cause health problems. However, it is also very useful in many other ways – in addition to being incredibly inexpensive and easily available.
Salt is powerfully antibacterial (of course, that’s why it is used in preserving so many foods.) It also has many other qualities which make it a useful cleaning agent. It mixes well with other natural cleaning agents such as vinegar and borax, and some of the cleaning methods on the list also call for these ingredients.
