If you’re looking for a guidebook on natural remedies, this might be the best one around. Rosemary Gladstar is a renowned herbal teacher and practitioner with more than 35 years of experience working with herbs. She has been called the “Mother of modern herbalism” and this book is a compendium of useful natural remedies, featuring detailed information about more than 90 herbs, as well as tips for preparing herbal remedies from scratch.

If you’re even remotely curious about the book, it’s worth checking out the reviews just to see all the people raving about it. You can’t make this stuff up – and it’s one of the things that I like best about shopping on amazon.com. You can also see a surprising amount of the book for free using the “look inside” feature.

One of my favorite examples from the book: A brilliant chart of 18 items to include in a “herbal first aid kit”, together with their uses. The herbal remedies in this chart include several simples (i.e. individual herbs) and also some formulas which are explained in the book.

When researching a product I always look at the reviews extensively as they reveal not only which are the best products but they very often people give generous, detailed critique that is very professional! When researching a new subject, I will very often simply go to amazon, run a search on the topic and then “arrange the results by customer feedback”; then look carefully through the first handful of results before choosing what seems to be the most highly acclaimed book.
