If you are seriously into natural products, toothpaste will probably be one of the products that will have been a “challenge”. The reason for this is that the majority of toothpastes are something of a chemical cocktail. If you are like me and scan the labels of what you are buying carefully, you will have noticed that most brands include sweeteners and other artificial ingredients galore.

Today I discovered a fantastic tutorial on how to make your own herbal tooth powder which completely sidesteps all artificial chemicals and opts for easily available natural ingredients! This is a superb recipe that explains the reason for the inclusion of each ingredient.

What surprised me first about this recipe was its simplicity. Can it really be that simple? If so, it begs the question: Why are manufacturers putting in all this other stuff?? Probably for reasons of product stability and “shelf appeal”.

Looking at the recipe, you’ll probably save some cash as well.

Another thing that I absolutely love about these recipes, which is usually not mentioned, is that you get to avoid all forms of plastic packaging!

Yet another amazing thing about this recipe is that it will appeal to survivalists: Because the ingredients are commonly available and, if stored correctly, should have a long shelf life, this is a recipe that seems to me a perfect candidate for your survival kit. I would however suggest packing a few toothbrushes also!

Here, then, is the link to the full tutorial: DIY Whitening Tooth Powder for Non-toxic Brushing

I am definitely going to give this one a go. Let us know how you get on in the comments or on our Facebook page!

😳 Tinnitus And Brain Health?

After 47 years of studies and countless brain scans done on more than 2,400 tinnitus patients, scientists at the MIT Institute found that in a shocking 96% of cases, tinnitus was actually shrinking their brain cells.

As it turns out, tinnitus and brain health are strongly linked.

Even more interesting: The reason why top army officials are not deaf after decades of hearing machine guns, bombs going off and helicopter noises…

Is because they are using something called "the wire method", a simple protocol inspired by a classified surgery on deaf people from the 1950s...

  1. I’d like to point out that xylitol is not just a natural sweetener (made from birch tree sap), but it is a strong anti-microbial agent (bacteria, viruses, and yeast/fungus all fall before it). Xylitol also helps whiten teeth, and remineralizes bone and tooth enamel. There are lots of great reasons to add xylitol to your tooth powder.

  2. Great recipe! Just be sure the clay you use is expressly noted as being for internal use. If there’s any question, ask for a microbial analysis to be sure it’s been tested for pathogens. Cheap clays are typically cosmetic grade (for external use), not food grade. You can also just sprinkle clay on top of your regular toothpaste.

  3. I have been brushing my teeth with turmeric spice powder. It is a potent antioxidant and cancer fighting herb.It whitens my teeth and helps with gum inflammation .I also use coconut oil and “pull” it through my teeth to cleanse and nourish my gums about 2-3x a week, I have a very happy mouth!
