If you have used OTC nasal sprays for decongestion, you might be interested in this. This “Breathe Jar” is an alternative that utilizes nothing but pure essential oils.
Something here really caught my eye: It’s interesting to note the complaint about nasal sprays voiced by the OP – she states that the standard nasal sprays work for a short time but then once you stop using them, the problem comes back worse in a kind of “rebound effect” – keeping you dependent on the sprays. Not good!
My general opinion on this type of pharmaceutical medicine is that it was not the lack of the pharmaceutical that caused your body to be unwell in the first place, so how can the pharmaceutical make you better? Modern medicine has no concept of the body’s natural equilibrium of health – and tends to regard such ideas as “pseudoscience”. (Despite all the reports about what actually gets results.)
My view (and that of many naturopaths) is that the body seeks wellness. Its natural tendency is to want to be healthy, vibrant and alive – and it strives for these conditions, informing us (as best it can) as to what it needs in order to achieve them. All ailments (this is again just an opinion not medical advice, I have to say this!) can be viewed as imbalance. Restore the balance and the body is much better able to fight whatever comes along.
That’s the basic theory of natural medicine. There are actually some fairly technical reasons behind this that are based on millions of years of evolution and adaption to plant medicine. We literally became who we are in synergy with wild plant life. It is part of us! Then, some time around the dawn of agriculture – perhaps because of agriculture – it all went south. Now we can’t make any medicinal claims for legal reasons – however a look at the comments section from all the genuine people reporting on their experiences – this speaks more loudly than all the advertising in the world if you ask me.
