Wellnessmama.com is one of my favorite sites for info on how to create your own natural products. Today we share one of their top posts – a list of 7 of the most useful and popular ingredients that can be used for making innumerable home-made goodies – for example lotions, oils, salves, balms, creams and more. They also include 8 further useful ingredients, plus a list of recipes that include these ingredients!
These “base” ingredients are the foundation for a very large proportion of natural products. Once you have some stocks, and know how to use the basics, you will not only be able to render high quality products, but will probably be able to improvise and make your own!
If you’ve been a fan of this site for a while, you’ve probably guessed that beeswax and coconut oil are in the list. The only one that was a surprise to me was arrowroot – which is usually used as a thickener in the kitchen! (Have you observed yet the number of culinary ingredients ending up in natural cosmetic products? Someone joked that there will soon be no difference between what is in your bathroom cabinet and your kitchen cupboard!)
