We’ve all encountered it, and it’s not nice. That dude at the party who insists on having a conversation with you, at close range – however you don’t want to get within 2 feet of him because he has bad breath. Bad breath can happen to anyone – but, it is also generally avoidable with a little effort and personal care. The first step is to stay in good health, and keep your teeth clean. I have found that flossing regularly is one of the most effective ways to prevent bad breath – as the most common culprit is the particles of food that don’t get taken away by regular brushing.
Another ultra-simple tip that I highly recommend is to swish the mouth out vigorously with water after eating. Doing this several times per day will generally help the mouth stay much cleaner.
However it turns out that there are a wide range of other approaches – including some off-the-wall ones – and today’s discovery is a page which lists 20 excellent ones. Some of these are really interesting and I had not heard about them – for example chlorophyll tablets. There are a few herbal suggestions in there also, including sage, mint, cloves, fenugreek, cinnamon and fennel – many of which can often be found in oral hygiene products. These herbs typically have some antibacterial action together with a pleasing scent… it’s a winning combination!
