Here’s an excellent formula that we discovered for making your own lip balm. This one contains several herbs and essential oils – and is 100% free from petrochemical products, weird coloring agents or aromas made from synthetic products. The link is at the foot of our short article.
The base is pure beeswax and olive oil or almond oil and the good news is that several of the herbs are optional, meaning that you can fine tune it according to both your budget and your individual herbal needs & wishes.
Another good thing about this formula is that you can make up a batch and either have several as gifts or have a supply that lasts for a while.
If you are using herbs and not essential oils, the first part of making this formula is infusing the herbs. There are two basic methods for this – one is quick and involves heat, and the other takes 3-4 weeks with the herbs soaked in olive oil.
