Today, it cannot be denied that are lots of brands of deodorants that promise excellent results in making your underarms feel smooth and fragrant. But there are some concerns over the use of chemicals in major brands of beauty products. The good news is, it is possible to create your own alternative using all natural ingredients – and you may even save money too.

Here’s a recipe we discovered for an all-natural deodorant made of lavender and rose. Natural deodorants are widely considered safe to use, and more importantly, their main ingredients, rose and lavender may have health benefits for the skin.

Rose

Centuries have already passed but rose still continues to be one of the most popular and widely used flowers in the world of medicine and cosmetics. In addition to its simple yet elegant beauty, rose is known for its skin enhancing benefits. It is also packed with antibacterial, relaxing and toning powers.

Rose contains anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties which are good for irritated skin. Furthermore, this flower is equipped with powerful antioxidants that help strengthen the skin cells and encourage skin tissue regeneration. In addition to its ability to reduce damage caused by over exposure to the sun, rose also acts as an excellent moisturizer for dry skin and prevents it from losing its firmness.

Lavender

Known for its antibacterial, antiseptic, antidepressant, detoxifying, sedative and healing properties, lavender is probably one of the most popular herbs for the skin. It works best in stimulating cell regeneration as well as in treating various skin ailments which include eczema, acne, inflammation, psoriasis, rashes, sunburn, wounds, scars, dermatitis, bruises, as well as insect bites and stings. The anti-fungal and antiseptic properties of lavender are beneficial in speeding up the healing process as well as in reducing scarring. Some researchers claimed that placing at least 4 drops of lavender oil on the armpits can help in keeping the odor down. It makes sense, due to its antibacterial qualities as well as its aroma.

Love it!! I am a deodarant skeptic, too. But, just like you – smelling good is a priority! So, I’m glad you were able to come up with this creative idea. The idea of putting it on my underarms with my finger – is ….well romantic and simple. It makes me feel like the old says. I like it.

thanks for this. how much essential oil goes into the recipe?

I have been using a similar formula for my deodorant after disappointing results with OTC Al-free deodorants. I also add tea tree oil, oil of oregano and vanilla extract.

I think my wife would like rose oil. thanks!

The essential oil is what will make the deodorant smell, so how much you put in will depend on how strong you will want it to smell. If you use the same size jar that is shown in the pictures it should only take about 5-7 drops.
