Welcome to the next in the “weird but amazing” series. Today, it’s wine – and I bring good news for wine lovers!
There are those who, reading my blog of late, will start to wonder if I have lost touch with the important things in life. As in – what kind of fool uses wine for purposes other than drinking?
Now did anyone say that you needed to use the good wine for this? 😉
Even if you don’t like to waste a drop, I can think of several scenarios where these unusual uses for wine may still be apropos. 1) You are a wine aficionado and someone gives you a gift of an awful bottle of plonk that you don’t dare uncork in front of your peers. 2) You are clearing up after a party and there are several half-drunk glasses or almost-empty bottles sitting around. 3) You discover that a vintage bottle that you just opened has gone bad.
Some of the uses are pretty unexpected. Apparently, wine can assist with unpleasant effects of zero gravity! This has some actual scientific backing – although I am sensing the possibility of an astronaut’s inside joke here…
A few of the 20 uses listed are not so much uses of wine, but “benefits of wine”. My favorite of the ones listed is that it is thought to slow the aging process – and that a glass of red wine a day is actually thought beneficial in this regard.
So there you go – you have reasons to drink the good stuff and things to do with the bad stuff… isn’t life great? 🙂
