Bee Pollen is a mixture of different flower pollens collected by bees when they land on a flower. It doen’t only contain pollen however – it also contains saliva, nectar, and honey bee enzymes, including amylase and catalase secreted by a bee’s salivary glands. A ball of bee pollen is formed due to agglutination by nectar and enzymes.
Bee pollen is an energy and vitamin-rich food that is not only consumed by humans as a food supplement but also for alternative medicinal use. Bee pollen is termed as a superfood due to its nutritional and medicinal properties. It has an average of 54.22% carbohydrates, 21.30% protein, and 2.91% ash content. 
Besides these components, bee pollen also contains free amino acids, fatty acids, vitamin B-complex, minerals, and flavonoids. A daily intake of 50g of bee pollen would provide almost 50 % of the required daily intake (RDI) of essential vitamins and minerals. Bee pollens have a very high number of different antioxidants including flavonols, resveratrol, lycopene, and vitamin A, C, and E.
A variety of metabolites contained in bee pollen exhibit anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.  A study found that bee pollens work similar to anti-inflammatory drugs, reducing inflammation in rats.  They also have good effects on liver health and were found to improve healing of the liver after damage.
Bee pollens boost the immune system to fight off bacteria and viruses and also can be used as a dietary supplement to meet daily protein needs. They also are effective in decreasing stress, tiredness, and boosts blood circulation that helps in the healing process.
