Corn starch is a very fine white powder and is one of the most versatile natural substances out there. It is inexpensive and well worth the investment of a few minutes to learn about!
Up until around 1850, corn starch was primarily used to starch laundry. It is most commonly used these days as a culinary ingredient – often added to sauces as a thickener. It is also added to surgical gloves to make them non-stick. However, it also has a very wide array of other uses.

Corn starch is also used as the base ingredient to make corn syrup – not something that I am in favor of, but worth learning nonetheless…
