Sore throat is a very common condition – and we’ve discovered an amazing list of 22 homemade remedies that are considered beneficial. Though most sore throats go away without medication, you may be able to avoid the suffering and pain caused by this condition.
When made into tea or taken raw, some herbs make excellent remedies to irritating sore throat. These herbs include cayenne, cinnamon, sage, chamomile, pomegranate, honeysuckle, cloves, garlic, marshmallow, licorice and of course, ginger. Many of these herbs are considered to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, spasmodic, antiseptic, antioxidant, and pain-killing properties.
There are different basic mechanisms on how these wonder herbs work in soothing sore throat. Some work by killing off bacteria that cause swelling, irritation and infection which only result to sore throat. Some contain highly active compounds that inhibit the transmission of pain signals to the brain. Some are considered capable of shrinking inflammation which also triggers sore throat.
In addition to herbs, steaming, warm salt gargle, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide are also regarded to be excellent home remedies for sore throat. It is also important o increase your fluid intake, and to take enough rest. Steering away from irritants like alcohol, caffeine, and of course avoiding common air pollutants will probably help.
